From a personal search to a global community.
The idea for Halaal Travels was born not in a boardroom, but in a deeply personal moment of frustration and purpose. In 2016, my husband Muhammed and I were planning a trip and, like many Muslim travellers, we faced a familiar struggle: where can we find travel information that actually considers our lifestyle, our values, and our needs? We searched for hours looking for places with halal food, nearby prayer facilities, and family-friendly spaces. But time and again, we couldn’t find the information we needed.
We used platforms like TripAdvisor and Booking.com for guidance, and while helpful in many ways, they lacked the Muslim perspective that we needed. We left our own reviews anyway, hoping that, even in a small way, our reviews might help someone else. A year later, we decided to create the Halaal Travels website to make it easier for us to document more detailed advice.
What began as a blog and an Instagram page has now evolved into something much greater, a space where Muslims around the world could find practical, honest, and spiritually mindful travel advice. A community rooted in shared values, real stories, and mutual support.
Over time, Halaal Travels has grown alongside our family and our community. Alhamdulillah, today it reaches over 85,000 people across our website, newsletter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and WhatsApp. But more than numbers, it’s the intention that matters the most.
We exist to make travel easier, and more meaningful for Muslims, whether you’re booking a holiday, looking for a local halal Restaurant or just dreaming of your next adventure.
Today, Halaal Travels is powered by a passionate team that facilitates community interaction, reviews, curated products, and digital marketing services, all rooted in the original spirit of giving back and helping others in their travel adventures.
We didn’t just build a platform.
We built the resources we once needed.
And now, it belongs to all of us.
