It’s no secret that when you are in Cape Town you have to have fish and chips. With every local having their favourite fish and chips location for freshly fried deliciousness, you certainly won’t go wrong if you try any of the fish and chips from this list. This list was obtained by recommendations from our Instagram community. It is in no particular order.
1) Fish on the rocks
Situated along the edge of the Atlantic ocean, with a stunning backdrop of Chapmans Peak. You will spot this fish and chips shop from a mile away even before you see the signs by the long line of customers queuing outside. But don’t worry the line does move fast and you won’t need to wait very long until you get your deep fried delicious fish and chips. Located right by the harbour’s edge, a stroll to see the seals, the ocean and the West Fort cannons is a must. Always bring along a jacket or a windbreaker with you. It does get windy here quite frequently.
Location: Hout Bay

2) Lucky Fish and Chips
Lucky’s has two branches, one in Muizenberg and one in Kalk Bay. Here you can consistently enjoy great fish and chips. My favourite is the Muizenberg branch. Mainly because of its location by surfers corner and the vibe at Muizenberg.
Location: Muizenberg and Kalk Bay
3) Trawlers
Trawlers is a seafood eatery in Gordons Bay, Cape Town. They are famous for their seafood platters, calamari burgers, and their tasty fish and chips. They are situated right on the beach in Gordons Bay. So no need to carry your own food when you venture out to enjoy the awesome beaches and tidal pools in Gordons Bay.

Ooskus prides themselves in serving restaurant quality food at Takeaway prices. Here you have the option to order while you are on your way to Gordons Bay, making it convenient and efficient to get your fish and chips. You also have the option to pick up and eat it at the beach or you can sit down and enjoy your scrumptious meal.
