When we asked about December holiday plans to our community of Instagram followers and what has been their best December holiday, these were some of the countries mentioned:
Hong Kong
The best time to visit Hong Kong is from end of September till end of December which would be during Autumn and early winter. These are great months for the outdoor actives Hong Kong has to offer. Given that it is the best time you would be paying premium prices for flights and accommodation. May and June are cheaper due to the humidity and there are not many festivals during this time.
Canada
Canada is great to visit from September to December. The weather does cool down quite a bit during these months. Another plus about visiting during this time is that there is usually fewer tourists around at the popular tourist attractions. The natural beauty experienced in Canada during this season is magical.
Saudi Arabia
As muslims any time of the year would be amazing to visit Makkah and Madinah for Umrah. December time is a popular period to visit as the school holidays are longer and you can make the most of your visit to the holy lands of Makkah and Madinah.
Dubai
Dubai and Abu Dhabi always remain high on the popularity list for many reasons from shopping to great activities for the whole family ranging from quad biking in the dunes to having a meal being sky high at the Burj Khalifa. The weather during the December period is also milder making it more manageable to experience the vast activities and experiences on offer.
Malaysia
Between December and April is a great time to visit Malaysia. Throughout the year the weather is quite hot and humid, although you will have scattered showers from time to time. Between December and April the weather does not vary much. After April Malaysia does get really hot so visit before April if you can. From the stunning Petronas towers to the colourful steps leading up to the Batu caves there is enough in Malaysia to keep you exploring for a while.
Doha
When visiting Doha you would want to travel between October and April as the weather is milder with lower degrees and humidity allowing you to actually enjoy the outdoor activities. If you are a soccer fan, then this is the place to be this November/December 2022. There are also many interesting museums to visit in Doha.
India
India is best to visit during late October and March. The weather is cool during this period. Many people would visit India to witness the cultural heritage of this magnificent destination. The country is so vast and has a unique personality. It goes without saying that the iconic Taj Mahal is definitely worth the visit.
Singapore
Singapore can be visited all year round but the best time to visit would be between December and June. During this season the weather is drier and the rain tends to stay away. This will allow you to make the most of your stay in Singapore. From the natural beauty of the Singapore Botanical Gardens to the iconic Universal Studios, Singapore is a destination worth visiting.
Thailand
Thailand’s dry season is between November to March making it the best time to visit. Breathtaking beaches, Phi Phi Islands, Grand Palace in Bangkok just to name a few. And lets not forget the very interesting street food. As a whole Thailand is a country easy on the eye and light on the pocket making it a worthwhile visit for South Africans.
Turkey
What more can we say about Turkey. It has captured the hearts of many South Africans. More and more South Africans are choosing to make Turkey their home. From the famous Blue Mosque to the Bosphorus River and just walking the magical streets of Turkey it will surely capture your heart and will make you sad to leave. Spain
Between March and May and September to November are great times to visit Spain. Barcelona, Granada, Madrid and the list carries on. Spain has so much to offer from the Grand Mosque in Cordoba to The Alhambra Palace there is so much history in Spain that will keep you in awe.
South Africa
December is the ideal time to visit South Africa due to the long summer days and great weather. A tropical beach holiday in Durban, riding the cable car up the breathtaking table mountain in Cape Town or experiencing an African safari you can literally spend weeks in the beautiful South Africa.
