“O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance.” (33:41)
A friend recently asked me to do a post on how to maintain our worship of Allah while on holiday. Personally, these are a few of the things that help me, so I thought I’d share in the hope they will benefit you too…
1. Make sure you have a list of non-negotiable acts of worship you keep up, no matter where you are, e.g., the 5 daily Salaah.
For me, this also includes reading 5 verses of the Qur’an a day, with an English translation, and spending just 5 minutes reflecting on them and journaling those reflections. I also try my best to read my Daily Azkaar, which leads me to my next point.
2. Be organised
I make sure I have a good Qur’an App (for me, it’s Al Quran by Greentech Apps Foundation) and Dua App (for me, it’s “Hisnul Muslim”) downloaded on my phone at all times. That way, whether I am in the hospital, on a beach, or in a taxi, I can still complete my non-negotiables. I do, however, remember to
3. Be flexible
For example, maybe I am too busy to read my evening Azkaar after Asr. That doesn’t mean I abandon it altogether, but I still try my best to read it at some point before I go to sleep.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Take up good deeds only as much as you are able, for the best deeds are those done regularly even if they are few.” ( Sunan Ibn Mājah 4240).
As long as we show up, that’s what matters to Allah. Human beings may judge us on what we achieve, but all our Merciful Allah cares about is that we make the effort. Alhumdulillah!
May Allah make us steadfast in our worship of Him, under all conditions ❤️
