Design
Unlike the previous Opel Zafira which was based on a C-segment design this new Zafira Life is a MPV. It is van based and is built for big families and/or for companies who are in the transport of passengers. The entry model being the Edition model is 8 seats while the range topping Elegance model is 7 seats with a host of additional features. These features do, however, come with a higher price. The Edition model is R769,900, while the Elegance is priced at R888,900.
Engine
The Opel Zafira Life is powered by a 2.0 TD which produces 110kW of power and a Torque of 370Nm. You can really feel the power when you put your foot down and this MPV definitely moves well for its size.
Interior and Boot Space
Now this is probably the main reason you are buying this car. With all 8 seats being in use you have a boot capacity of 1060L. And yes the boot is absolutely huge. There is no doubt that you will be travelling in comfort with enough luggage space to your hearts content.
Performance and Practicality
This is where it can be quite subjective. Do you go for the leather seats of the Elegance or the cloth seats of the Edition? Do you prefer the additional 8th seat in the Edition or the 7 seats with a table in the Elegance? Note that in the Elegance you have 2 seats that can rotate to face the boot. Is the convenience of automatic sliding doors important to you in the Elegance or are you fine with operating the relatively heavy doors manually in the Edition model?
Final Thoughts
These are very important considerations in deciding which model to go for and also whether you will put this Opel Zafira on your list of options to consider if you are in the market for a MPV.
