Travellers Experience-Singapore: All you need to know to plan your trip

Singapore Travellers Experience

From halaal dining to serene mosques, Singapore offers a seamless blend of modern attractions and rich cultural heritage, making it a fantastic destination for Muslim travelers.

What made you choose to travel to Singapore?

Singapore has always been a bucket list destination for me and I am so happy I finally got to do it.

When do you think is the best time to travel to Singapore?

A great time to visit Singapore is between December and January. Although it is the rainy season, it’s amazing! After a few minutes, the sun shines again.

Where did you stay in Singapore?

We got a hotel that had a Metro station next to it. We stayed at  JEN by Shangri-La. It was a beautiful hotel.

First night

The first night we visited Gardens at the Bay – it is beautiful at night. They have the SuperTree Grove, Flower Dome, and Cloud Forest. We chose to do the most popular- Cloud Forest. At certain times they have the light show- be sure to look out for the times of the show (the light show is free). We also explored Marina Bay & went over to Little India (the area name sums up the place). Here you will find reasonably priced Indian food- a mix of street style & upmarket restaurants.

Second Day

On our second day, we visited Sentosa Island. We used the metro to the harbor front and then used the cableway to get to the island. Sentosa Island has a free monorail (bus service) that takes you around the island. Since we only had a day we were not able to cover the entire island.

We visited Siloso Beach. We did the zip line with Mega Adventure & visited Resorts World. We took a cab from Resorts Word to  Siloso Universal Studio- it is worth every penny spent on the entrance fee. If you have bigger kids, you could spend an entire day here. We spent 3 hours as we skipped a lot of the rides.

Second Day-Evening

In the evening we explored Clarke Quay- it has a nice atmosphere at night.

Third-Day

The next day we had 8 hours left before we left for the airport. In the morning we explored Kampong Glam in the district Rochor (Rochor is a planning area located within the Central Area of the Central Region of Singapore). It is also known as the Arab quarters. This area is the most Instagrammable place with pretty shops, little alleys, souvenir stores, and lots of halaal food. The food is quite pricey- we ate at a great restaurant called Anatolia- which was a mixture of Lebanese and Turkish food.

Did you visit any masjids?

Where would you recommend our readers to shop when in Singapore?

1. Far East Plaza- has reasonably priced items.

2. Branded stores are all over Singapore.

3. Souvenir shops are also easily accessible across Singapore.

A little about the local people in the country?

People are very helpful, friendly & kind. You will see a lot of Telugu people as well. Nobody will trouble you on the Metro or anywhere else- everyone is on their own buzz- which we loved!

What advice will you give others who are planning their trip to Singapore?

I would advise anyone traveling to Singapore to consider all hotel areas- not just the ones on Orchard Street. All hotel areas are beautiful and well connected to a Metro Station.

What duration do you think would be sufficient in Singapore?

Perhaps 4 days is ideal to spend in Singapore if you aim to explore and have fun. If you want relaxation- 6 days would be better.

What is the best mode of transport in Singapore?

The best mode of transport is to get yourself a Metro card as soon as you are ready to explore. It’s the most economical and easy way to get around.

Get to know your Metro routes- certain lines connect certain areas. Once you have that figured you would be good to go. The metro is completely underground, and very well facilitated in terms of traveling with small children- it has pram access pathways and clean bathrooms with toddler toilets- this was a win for me.

You could also use the taxis or cycle your way around.

Any final tips, tricks, and recommendations for anyone visiting Singapore?

Try flying directly via Singapore Airlines if you can. Keep some time for the airport. Singapore has one of the most beautiful airports- Changi Airport. The airport has a waterfall within it which is free to access and easy to get to.

Please don’t sleep in till late! You will sleep when you get back home! Explore the place by Metro & foot, try not to use taxis- you won’t get to see the fascinating smaller things.
