Below is the information that was shared by the Halaal Travels Instagram community

Documents you will need:

  1. Original Vehicle Registration Certificate
  2. If bank financed, you need a letter FL from your bank authorising travel to Mozambique
  3. You need 3rd party insurance valid in Mozambique
  4. You need a letter from your insurer as well stating that your vehicle is covered for an accident in Mozambique.

These documents must be presented at the Border. They will issue you with a form saying you have presented these documents and you must keep this with you as well. You will be stopped by traffic cops multiple times looking for these documents.

You must also ensure you have 2 x NEON vests with you and the warning triangle in case of breakdown. Also, your vehicle must have a ZA sticker (try to get the driveMoz ZA sticker) and it must be displayed on the right side of your number plate.

Make sure that passengers in the back seat also use seat belts or else you will be fined 500 meticals per passenger for this.

Things you need have:

A triangle, fire extinguisher, ZA sticker, 2 reflective jackets, car papers and a copy is ok. Insurance is sold at the border.

Information from an Instagram Dm (18 Sept 2023)

“Salaam. Regarding the Komatipoort to Moz border

You’ll have many guys rush to ur car as soon as u cross – they’ll say they are officials – they aren’t. Go straight to passport control

U can take out 3rd party ins there or in komatipoort at the Sasol/engen

When u get to border to stamp passports send 1 person to stand in the queue for the car stuff – helps to save time. Although they do want to see everyone when stamping passports

Car papers – if you have a trailer u need papers for the trailer as well.

No fresh meat is allowed into moz

Do not drive with sandals or anything open toed

If the cops stop u & u haven’t broken the law – stand ur ground. Do not bribe them – this creates issues for other tourists.

From what we’ve heard the earlier to get to the border the longer you’ll wait. Sometimes crossing in the afternoon is best.”
