Where do you think is the best place to book when visiting Qatar?
Check how close your hotel is to the metro station before booking. Try to stay within walking distance of it.
How did you travel from the airport to your hotel?
When you arrive at the airport, ask for the metro train. When we went before the world cup the signage wasn’t great. You can buy a tourist card which I think is a per day card. I can’t remember exactly what it was called but it was cheaper than the taxis and also takes you everywhere. There is also a bus system connected to the train system. If you need help the best people to ask are the local security guards. They very helpful.
Where to shop?
Buy water from the grocery shops at the train station or alternatively go buy a few in the souq.
The souq is amazing and the most authentic thing left in Qatar. Spend time there in the day and at night as it has very different vibes.
Places you visited and would recommend?
Tons of other places like corniche etc to visit. Try to go to the beach as well. You pay to go in but you have access to tables and loungers. I would suggest taking food and some snacks to chill there early in the evening.
The beach is near the cultural village which has the free shuttle that can drop you at this beach. It’s 10 Qatari Riyal for entry at the time of our travels in 2022.
Halaal in Qatar?
Another follower sent this message via the DMs on the Halaal Travels Instagram account.
“Salaams, My friend just emigrated to Qatar. She has confirmed everything is halal there and they are very strict there. For example If you wear a hijab they will not allow you to enter into a restaurant where it is licensed for alcohol (which are very few). As for things to do you can check out the ‘NewinDoha’ page on Instagram for things to do there.”
