Best time to visit:
Best time to visit – all year except the wet season of March, April and May. Weather tends to be hot so keep hydrated. Take water shoes for activities.
Salaah and Halaal food:
Zanzibar is a muslim country so there are many mosques and ample halaal food with certification. Ideally choose an all inclusive option.
Zanzibar Tours:
Stone town, Spice Market, including the food market. Masjid in Stone Town. Rands/USD can be used for tipping and also to buy things, except the food market where local currency is needed. Lukmaan restaurant in Stone Town. Tours have to be paid in USD.
Zanzibar Watersports tour:
Swimming with Turtles, parasailing and jet ski. Can also be done at hotel. Try to book this tour after Jummah so you can be picked up before Jummah and taken to a mosque thereafter to do the tour. The rest of the days the resorts are fully equipped with activities and relaxation at the beach, pool, jacuzzi or spa.
Flights to Zanzibar:
Safair direct flight but only operates on a Tuesday and Saturday. Kenya airways flies daily. Has a stopover in Nairobi.
Zanzibar Accommodation:
Emerald, Riu Palace, Sea Cliff and Riu Jumbo. In future there is a Four Seasons coming up.
Activities:
Activities are usually available at the hotels. At emerald they had a private jacuzzi and swimming pool at the spa area which is ideal for hijabis.
